Promotional Materials for the Education Service Centers
The Center for Educator Development in Fine Arts (CEDFA) began in 1998 with the expressed purpose of being a statewide network to support fine arts teachers in implementing the Fine Arts TEKS. What started as a small group of dedicated professionals volunteering to help other fine arts teachers work with the new TEKS, has grown into a cadre of over 120 members located in districts throughout the geographic regions of the state. Furthermore, CEDFA built upon the idea of a “statewide network” of support for fine arts educators by establishing relationships with fine arts contacts at each of the regional Educational Service Centers. CEDFA also helps fine arts educators connect through the internet using this website. In 2002, CEDFA expanded the opportunities for fine arts educators by developing and holding the Texas Fine Arts Summit.
The Fine Arts Summit, hosted by the Center for Educator Development in Fine Arts (CEDFA), is the only major venue in Texas that brings together educators from each of the four fine arts content areas of art, dance, music, and theatre. The four professional development sessions offered at the Fine Arts Summit XVII will pertain to strategies for success in the fine arts classroom. The sessions will be in-depth training on the following topics: Instructional Pathways to Personalized Learning in the Fine Arts; Technology Infusion for the Fine Arts Classroom; Design Thinking Across the Arts and in the Real World; and Project-Based Learning in the Fine Arts. More detailed information about the Fine Arts Summit and CEDFA can be found at http://www.cedfa.org/summits/summit-xvii/.
