Closing Session

The Summit XV Closing activities will be provided through Northside ISD and presented by students in the district’s Fine Arts Program. Some of our presenters will be:

Matthew Baiza

Mr. Baiza is a senior at John Jay Science and Engineering Academy in Northside ISD. Mr. Baiza has played the piano for the past twelve years. He was involved in the Theatre Arts program in middle school and had been an active member of the Choir since the 3rd grade. He is very active in the field of sports both in baseball and cross country. He currently serves as President of the National Honor Society and member of the award-winning John Jay Choir. He currently sits on the Academic Research Team at Jay HS. Mr. Baiza was an Area Choir member; he also received a State Solo and Ensemble Rating of “1”. He was the 6th Grand Prize Winner of the Texas Junior Academy of Science and National Hispanic Scholar. Mr. Baiza was named the 2014 John Jay HS Valedictorian. After graduation, Mr. Baiza plans to attend Stanford University and major in Political Science.

Victoria Deleon

Miss Deleon is a freshman at Louis Brandeis High School in Northside ISD where she is a member of the Brandeis Ballet Company and Lariette Dance Team. She has taken ballet, tap, jazz and lyrical at Brandeis HS and Earl Cobb dance studio in San Antonio. She is the Luis Brandeis recipient of The Bronco Award for Reading. Upon graduation, Ms. Deleon plans to attend nursing school.

Brendan Frederick

Mr. Frederick is a member of the award-winning Sandra Day O’Connor High School Band in Northside ISD. He is under the music and jazz instruction of master band director Roland Sandoval and two professional artists, Timothy McWright and Bishop Cunningham. His middle school band experience included 1st chair selection in Region 11 All-Region Band and 2nd chair selection at all three summer institutes attended, including UT Austin, Baylor, and UTSA. Brendan is a member of the Academy of Fine Arts Of San Antonio Jazz Ensemble. He is an active member of The Boy Scouts of America and currently holds the rank of Star. Recent awards include selection as lead alto in the Academy of Jazz Ensemble, outstanding jazz performer at Palo Alto College Jazz Festival and Texas State University Jazz Festival, and was the 1st chair alto saxophonist in Region 11 2014 All-Region Band. Upon graduation, Brendan hopes to double major in Jazz Performance and Pre-Medicine at the University of North Texas.

Déjà Hall

Miss Hall is a member of the award-winning William Howard Taft High School Choir in Northside ISD. Her singing experience began as a member of the First Baptist Academy school chorus in San Antonio, Texas. Her enthusiasm for singing bloomed in 2007 when she was asked to lead a song during a church service in Okinawa, Japan. Most recently, she was named one of the top 20 finalists for NBC’s television entertainment reality series, The Voice. Miss Hall is a member of the National Honor Society and is a member of both the varsity basketball and track teams. With such a heavy daily schedule, she manages to continue to be named to the list of A and B honor roll students.

Marshall Hammond

Mr. Hammond is a senior at Tom C. Clark High School in Northside ISD where he is currently enrolled in Art History AP. His other training includes Art 2 AP – Art 4 AP. He currently serves as the Vice – President of CLART (Clark HS Art Club). He is a three-year VASE award champion. Mr. Hammond is also an active member of the Clark Theatre Department. He has performed in a host of productions, most recently to include Hairspray and the University Interscholastic League One Act Play production of Moon Over Buffalo where he received such awards as Best Actor and Honorable Mention. He is also the director of the I to I Improv Team. Upon graduation, Mr. Hammond plans to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York to become a fashion designer.

Carli Martinez

Miss Martinez is a junior at John Marshall High School in Northside ISD where she is a member of the award-winning Theatre department under the direction of master teacher Marion Sweatmon. She has been in theatre since middle school where she played Raja in I Never Saw Another Butterfly. She is also very active in her church theatre department. Miss Martinez was a member of Northside first summer theatre camp program, Rising Stars and played the role of Lefou in their debut of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Thespian, and part of the organization Friends Having Fun group, a social group who works close with ALE students. Upon graduation, Miss Martinez plans to attend the University of the Incarnate Word and plans to major in Communication and Journalism. She is honored to debut her self-written monologue Inner Peace to our CEDFA audience.

Haley Parker

Miss Parker is a senior at Tom C. Clark High School in Northside ISD where she is currently enrolled in Art History AP. She has studied Art 2 – 4AP under master art teacher Mark Peavy. She has also studied 3D animation and fashion design. Ms. Parker is a member of the award-winning Cougar Orchestra and Art Club and is very active in Track and Field.

Jessica Stevens

Miss Stevens is a senior at Tom C. Clark High School in Northside ISD where she is studying Art History. She is a member of Clark’s Improv Team and in her spare time takes ceramic courses. She is a member of CLART (Clark HS Art Club). Ms. Parker was a Regional VASE qualifier this year. Upon graduation, Miss Stevens plans to attend The University of North Texas and major in Visual Arts Studies. She hopes to become a high school art teacher like Mr. Mark Peavy.
