An exciting new project through the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and Region 20 Education Service Center (ESC-20) as a result of passage during the 81st Texas legislative session of Rider 42E in the General Appropriations Act, Article III of the Student Success Initiative is being coordinated by long-time partners Center for Educator Development in Fine Arts (CEDFA) and Resources for Learning (RFL). CEDFA and RFL have collaborated since the inception of CEDFA in 1998 as a state initiative administered by ESC-20. Together they bring extensive familiarity with the education community in Texas, understanding of curriculum, assessment, teaching methods across disciplines, and understanding and appreciation of the need for integrated instruction in mathematics, science and the fine arts. CEDFA and ESC-20 are coordinating professional development for teachers of mathematics, science, and fine arts (art, dance, music, theatre), grades K-12, related to effective and appropriate methods of integrated teaching and learning within these three academic disciplines through coordination of lesson plans, instructional strategies, and curricula that is based upon the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
