The Center for Educator Development in Fine Arts (CEDFA) invites you to attend the Texas Fine Arts Summit XII to be held June 9-10, 2011. Summit XII will focus on assessment strategies in the fine arts, specifically as they relate to the Response/Evaluation strand of the Fine Arts Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). The design of the Summit will provide opportunities for collaborative hands-on work time to put the ideas covered into practice and to emerge with a practical approach to TEKS-based arts instruction and assessment. The Summit is open to attendees on a first-come, first-served basis, and space is limited. Please register early. Discounted registration prices end May 15, 2011.
The Fine Arts Summit is the only major venue in Texas that brings together educators from each of the four fine arts content areas of art, dance, music, and theatre. The 2010 Summit is the second year of a four-year plan to provide Summit participants with professional development training on assessment strategies in each of the four fine arts content areas, one strand of the Fine Arts Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) per year:
Since 2000, CEDFA has organized successful statewide fine arts summits that focus on teaching strategies aligned with the TEKS. The CEDFA Summits served as the only venue for educators from all four fine arts disciplines to meet and discuss relevant issues. Education service centers replicated each statewide summit at the regional level.
